Open Positions

The NFA team is always on the lookout for open-minded people that share our vision for the future of forestry, with backgrounds in relevant fields (computer vision, robotics/perception, software development, etc). Our headquarters are in Lund, Sweden, but with the right person, we are open to hybrid/remote solutions.

Introduction

The forestry sector is in a transitional phase, adapting to increased demand for sustainable raw materials, carbon storage, biodiversity conservation and a shortage of highly skilled machine operators. Digital tools, precision forestry and automation will play a crucial role. NFA is in the business of creating such tools. The company brings new technology to the forestry sector, with strong potential in terms of increasing precision, efficiency and sustainability to forestry on a global scale. This role offers an opportunity to join the team at an early stage, and support us in building a technology platform with potential for substantial positive impact on the forest environment.

Role

NFA is looking for an experienced software developer with an emphasis on perception algorithms to complement our development team. Our first product is a sensor based operator support system with a web based graphical user interface (UI) and a cloud platform for forest data management.

In this role you will work with the core perception and localization algorithms running live in our operator support system. The tasks within this scope are broad and include machine learning, computer vision algorithms and SLAM. Given that we are a small team you would also help out with building the necessary infrastructure for development and testing of the algorithms.

Candidate

The ideal candidate has 3+ years of work (or other) experience in software development and holds a Msc or PhD degree in a relevant field, e.g. Computer Science or Applied Mathematics. You have specifically worked with or studied development of algorithms for perception using camera or lidar sensors.

It is beneficial to have experience with deploying Neural Network models on embedded devices with runtime constraints. Being comfortable with working in a Linux environment is also a plus. In addition, we expect the candidate to be open to learning new things and have good communication skills. As a part of a small team, cooperation and collaboration is key; sometimes by working directly together and sometimes by a division of tasks.

At NFA, we value and strive for diversity and gender balance within the organization. We hope to see a wide representation among the applicants.
